Dirty Sugar Cookies
All the Sugar-Coated Dirt: Publication Date: May, 2006 Get yourself some sugar! You can order Dirty Sugar Cookies from Powells.com just by clicking on the book cover over there to the right. Read "Just a Sliver," an excerpt from Dirty Sugar Cookies. Speaking of excerpts, the online magazine Perceptive Travel would like to treat you to a mangosteen-flavored Dirty Sugar amuse-bouche. Come get your sugar fix live when I read from Dirty Sugar Cookies! See the Public Appearance Calendar for dates and locations of upcoming appearances. Read some sweet reviews on the What They Say page. Don't forget about my new food blog! And keep reading for all the delicious dirt on my first-ever blog tour! Here's what it says on the back cover:
How does a picky eater morph into a low-budget epicure whose digestive indiscretions are a matter of public record? Just how far can a pregnant woman stray from the Best Odds Diet until a food-borne bacterial infection lands her in the hospital? Can a serial monogamist really keep track of every post-coital breakfast she's ever enjoyed? An omnivorous, rollicking chronicle of culinary awakening, Dirty Sugar Cookies is an oil-splattered, accidentally-dropped-on-the-floor, self-mocking love letter to everything Ayun Halliday has ever eaten — and a few of the things she wishes she hadn't. The Dirty Sugar Cookies Blog Tour!
In June of '06, I jumped on the cutting board, chopped myself into a million little pieces and shot myself into cyberspace to promote Dirty Sugar Cookies: Culinary Observations, Questionable Taste. Traditional book tours are great and all, but they put wear on your luggage wheels. Plus, sometimes nobody shows up and you feel like a total heiner. Or people do show up, except you're having an off night and sound like a total heiner, if not a gibbering drunk. An editor of the Bean Blossom Herald Tribune, miffed that the Bean Blossom Book Patch was passed by yet again, might write a snide op-ed piece, then post it as an Amazon Customer review! If I'd left town in June, I would have missed the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the opening night of my genius husband's genius play, and kindergarten graduation! The following blogs are really nifty numbers, and I'm not just saying that because they let me park the virtual tour bus on their cyber lawns while I darted inside to shake my Dirty Sugar Cookies. Every stop had its own unique flavor. Click at random to sample a list of pet peeves pertaining to food memoirs, a heretofore-closely-guarded family recipe, interviews conducted over fabulous non-cyber luncheon, reviews, excerpts, a brawl in the comments section of a popular parenting blog, and heaven help us all, two podcasts. Thanks to all who participated, and are participating still, thanks to the wonders of the permalink. Tour Calendar:

My friend and fellow writermama, Andi Buchanan rocked some serious blog tour action last year, and apparently, the business shelf crowd has been at it since Al Gore invented the Internet! I don't mind if you want to continue covering me in honey, though.
